A stock market, equity market, or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks, which represent ownership claims on businesses; these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange as well as stock that is only traded privately, such as shares of private companies that are sold to investors through equity crowdfunding platforms. Investments are usually made with an investment strategy in mind.

शेयर बाज़ार एक ऐसा बाज़ार है जहाँ कंपनियों के शेयर खरीदे-बेचे जा सकते हैं। किसी भी दूसरे बाज़ार की तरह शेयर बाज़ार में भी खरीदने और बेचने वाले एक-दूसरे से मिलते हैं और मोल-भाव कर के सौदे पक्के करते हैं। पहले शेयरों की खरीद-बिक्री मौखिक बोलियों से होती थी और खरीदने-बेचने वाले मुंहजबानी ही सौदे किया करते थे। लेकिन अब यह सारा लेन-देन स्टॉक एक्सचेंज के नेटवर्क से जुड़े कंप्यूटरों के जरिये होता है। इंटरनेट पर भी यह सुविधा मिलती है। आज स्थिति है कि खरीदने-बेचने वाले एक-दूसरे को जान भी नहीं पाते।
